Environmental McCarthyism in Utah

I'm all about saving the environment.

My husband's 2006 VW Diesel Jetta gets 40 miles to the gallon.

We just received a letter from the county that an anonymous tipster said it was blowing out black smoke and destroying mother earth.

We now have to drive to a county inspection service, pay $50 for that service to prove that are car was not tampered with.

The county will not release the name of this tipster. Despite what the constitution says, we can not face our accusers.

You all know how much I hate anonymous commenters. Cowards that throw poison darts, self-righteous commentary and criticism with out taking any accountability for their words.

It had to be a holier than thou Prius driver. Good thing we turned in our aluminum cans to be recycled last week so we have some cash on hand to pay for this environmental zealot. I'm almost tempted to NOT recycle my cardbord this month. That'll show 'em!

Poor Snobs

I've recently encountered a major amount of snobbery.
People that are too good to shop at walmart.
Too good to shop at DI.
Regardless of the exact same items (I'm talking Brand Name Items) being sold at Walmart for 1/2 the price of Babies R Us.
The same people that would never wear a moisenite regardless of it being indistinguishable between a diamond.

These people happen to be the people that have either declared bankruptcy, have a great deal amount of debt, or do not own their own homes.

When I talk to these people I get the "That's not good enough from me" attitude and I can't understand it, mostly because I know that they have no money.

Those that have money, do not have this attitude.

I know books have been written about this- The Millionaire Next Door and Suzy Orman talks about it in a number of her books- those that live modestly have more money, but it's starting to drive me crazy.

It's as bad as unwarranted arrogance.

But then again, it's not like congress is much different.
